About

Stainless Steel 321 is a titanium-stabilized version of Stainless Steel 304. Titanium binds with carbon to prevent chromium carbide forming at grain boundaries, giving it superior resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding or exposure between roughly 425-900 °C, with continuous service up to about 815 °C.

General corrosion resistance is similar to 304, but it performs poorly in chloride or marine environments, and it doesn't polish well, so it isn't suited for decorative finishes.

Stainless Steel 321 is best suited to exhaust manifolds, expansion joints, furnace components, and other high-temperature or welded assemblies.
