About

Stainless Steel 309S is a heat-resistant austenitic alloy with higher chromium and nickel than 304, giving it strong resistance to oxidation and scaling at temperatures up to roughly 1,000 °C.

Its low carbon content (versus standard 309) reduces carbide precipitation, improving weldability for thermally cycled components.

It offers only moderate room-temperature strength compared to structural grades, and is well suited to furnace components, heat exchangers, and petrochemical equipment exposed to sustained high heat.
