Flame retardant polycarbonate (PC-FR) is standard polycarbonate formulated with flame-retardant additives to reliably achieve a UL94 V-0 rating – self-extinguishing within 10 seconds without flaming drips.
This formulation can retain PC's core strength, impact resistance, and heat tolerance, although flame-retardant additives can generally reduce toughness in some polymer systems.
PC-FR is well suited to electrical housings, connectors, and components near heat-generating equipment where both fire safety and mechanical performance matter.
