Tool steel S1 ships annealed and machinable, and can be hardened into a shock-resisting tool steel combining tungsten's toughness and wear resistance with chromium's dimensional stability.

About
S1 (60WCrV8) is supplied annealed. Tungsten and chromium give it excellent dimensional stability along with good toughness and wear resistance once hardened. Despite containing some chromium, it isn't a stainless grade.
Tool steel S1 is suited to tools subjected to high stress and repeated impact, including punches, chisels, and forming tools in cold-work settings.
