About

D2 (X153CrMoV12) is supplied annealed. Its high chromium content and vanadium addition form abundant hard carbides, giving it excellent wear resistance, dimensional stability, and high compressive strength once hardened. It's also a good base material for coating and nitriding treatments. Compared to D6, it offers better secondary hardenability but somewhat different toughness characteristics.

Tool steel D2 is suitable for blanking dies, punches, shear blades, and forming tools needing long service life under abrasive wear.
