About

430 is a straight-chromium ferritic stainless steel, valued for good formability and a bright finish that polishes close to chrome plating. Its corrosion resistance is milder than 304 — best when highly polished — and it isn't suited for marine, seawater, or heavily chloride-exposed environments.

It can become brittle after prolonged exposure between 400-600 °C.

Stainless Steel 430 is well suited to appliance trim, architectural hardware, and indoor decorative components where a bright finish and lower cost matter more than top-tier corrosion resistance.
