About

Stainless Steel 15-5 PH is a precipitation-hardened martensitic stainless steel that combines high strength, good toughness, and reliable corrosion resistance with excellent machinability in the solution-treated condition.

The alloy offers a strong balance between mechanical performance and environmental durability, making it suitable for load-bearing components, structural brackets, shafts, precision housings, tooling, and mechanical assemblies. Compared with grades like 304 or 316L, 15-5 PH provides significantly higher strength while still maintaining good resistance to atmospheric and mild chemical corrosion.

15-5 PH is commonly used in aerospace, defense, oil and gas, industrial machinery, and high-performance engineering applications, especially where parts must withstand mechanical stress, fatigue, and wear. After machining, the material can be further precipitation hardened to increase strength if required for critical applications.

In its raw as-machined condition, the surface is functional and technical rather than decorative; for outdoor or harsh environments, additional finishing such as passivation, coating, or polishing can further enhance corrosion resistance and appearance.
