About

2.4605 (Alloy 59 or Nicrofer 5923 hMo) is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy (about 23% chromium, 16% molybdenum) whose extremely low carbon and silicon prevent grain-boundary precipitation after welding.

It resists both oxidizing and reducing media, chloride pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking, but it work-hardens faster than austenitic stainless steels, so machining calls for low speeds.

Nickel alloy 2.4605 is commonly used for flue-gas desulfurization equipment, acetic acid reactors, and waste-incineration components.
