Iron-chromium alloy 1J117 is a corrosion-resistant soft magnetic alloy, the equivalent of 430FR solenoid-quality stainless. It offers moderate magnetic performance for solenoid valves and electromagnetic parts.
1J117 is an iron-chromium soft magnetic alloy (about 17–18% chromium), equivalent to 430FR solenoid-quality stainless. The chromium gives it corrosion resistance in atmosphere, fresh water, and oxidizing media, unlike pure iron, but magnetic performance is more modest.
Strength is also modest, it cannot be hardened by heat treatment, and its magnetic properties depend on a final magnetic anneal.
1J117 is commonly used for solenoid valve cores, armatures, and electromagnet parts exposed to moisture or chemicals.
