Aluminum 3003 is a non-heat-treatable aluminum-manganese alloy that gains strength only through cold working rather than heat treatment. Compared to 6061, it offers superior corrosion resistance, formability, and weldability, but noticeably lower achievable strength, since it lacks 6061's magnesium-silicon precipitation-hardening mechanism.

While it isn't the right choice for structural parts needing a high strength-to-weight ratio, it's a good choice for chemical processing equipment, fuel tanks, heat exchangers, and general sheet-metal enclosures where corrosion resistance and fabricability matter more than peak strength.
